SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden Gate Salmon Association (GGSA), a coalition of salmon advocates working to protect and restore California’s largest salmon runs, today announced the Santa Cruz for Salmon Celebration and fundraising dinner, slated for September 21st at the Elks Lodge in Santa Cruz. It will be a great night featuring hors d’oeuvres, craft beer and wine, dinner, silent and open auctions, and the chance to compare fish stories with all the folks we share the water with, all while raising funds for salmon restoration.
This year’s dinner will be catered by one of Santa Cruz’s highly recommended catering companies, Barbara and Co. with all you can eat and drink festivities throughout the night.
“Join fellow fishermen and women along with other GGSA supporters in beautiful Santa Cruz to help raise money for a good cause that benefits all of us who enjoy salmon,” said GGSA director and dinner chairman Joe Donatini of Johnson Hicks Marine.

The Golden Gate Salmon Association (www.goldengatesalmonassociation.org) is a coalition of salmon advocates that includes commercial and recreational salmon fisherman, businesses, restaurants, a native tribe, environmentalists, elected officials, families and communities that rely on salmon. GGSA’s mission is to protect and restore California’s largest salmon producing habitat comprised of the Central Valley river’s that feed the Bay-Delta ecosystem and the communities that rely on salmon as a long-term, sustainable, commercial, recreational and cultural resource.
Currently, California’s salmon industry is valued at $1.4 billion in annual economic activity and $700 million in economic activity and jobs in Oregon in a normal season. The industry employs tens of thousands of people from Santa Barbara to northern Oregon. This is a huge economic bloc made up of commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen (fresh and salt water), fish processors, marinas, coastal communities, equipment manufacturers, tackle shops and marine stores, the hotel and food industry, tribes, and the salmon fishing industry at large.
